Description of the project activity:
Background:
Sintex Industries Limited is a Public Limited Company based at Kalol in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat. The company is in the business of plastic and textile production over seven decades with an optimum growth. The company apart from its robust operating performance in the textile segment is a domestic market leader in manufacturing of thermoplastic moulded, extruded and thermoformed with an aggregate capacity of seventy five thousand metric tons per annum in compliance with stringent international TS 16949 quality standards.
Purpose of the project activity:
The project activity through deployment of natural gas based co generation system primarily aims at reducing Green House Gas emission, abates environmental pollution and fossil fuel conservation by lowering of fossil fuel consumption. The incorporation of the project activity will results in substitution of higher carbon intensive fuel oil based power generation with comparatively cleaner mode of power generation and subsequently utilisation of sensible heat content of the waste gas emanating from the gas turbine for thermal energy generation. The cogeneration system will thus replace the existing system of individual fossil fuel based thermal and electrical energy generation.
The Project proponent with an objective to be in tune with the sustainable development priorities of the country is promoting cogeneration facility at the industrial premise irrespective of its financial unviability. The project activity apart from reducing green house gas emission will leads to a cleaner environment through lowering of SOx, NOx and particulate matter emission in compared to the project scenario. The project activity through lowering of fossil fuel consumption will lead towards fossil fuel conservation in furtherance of the aim of national energy security.
