Brief Description of the Project In pursuit of efficient generation of ‘W’ acid, SIL came up with an in house developed patented technology to avoid the use of methanol in the hydrogenation process at the distillation column. This resulted in reduction in steam, Power and furnace oil consumption in the previously used distillation column for methanol distillation. Similarly, taking a cue from the above activity, the company also avoided use of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) solvent in the ‘IR’ acid process with equivalent energy savings (steam, power and furnace oil) as a result of avoidance of incineration in the process. The project activity has reduced the release of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and has enabled conservation of environment and natural resources.
