Chhattisgarh Lighting Improvement Project
Name of Project “Chhattisgarh Lighting Improvement Project (CLIP) in Rajnandgoan Circle, Chhattisgarh India”
Location of the Project (Village / District / State) Rajnandgoan Circle, Chhattisgarh
Brief Description of the Project Purpose of this project is to make Compact Florescent Lamps (CFLs) affordable to consumers who cannot afford to buy it, by utilising Carbon Market based discounts. Particularly in rural areas of this state a large number of villagers live without access to electricity & those who have electricity connections, cannot afford to buy CFLs sold at 9-15 times the price of Incandescent Lamps (ICL). This project targets to discount & distribute 484,000 CFLs to approximately 201,776 consumers in the Chhattisgarh, India, which replace less efficient Incandescent Lamps (ICL). CFLs will be sold at reduced prices to those registered consumers who have actually returned ICLs in equal numbers (e.g.: four CFLs are issued to those who bring in four ICLs). The ICLs will be destroyed so as to ensure these less efficient ICLs are not used elsewhere
