Finolex Cables is planning to set up a greenfield manufacturing facility in joint venture with J-Power Systems for very high voltage power cables. A new company in the style of Finolex J-Power Systems has been floated for this purpose. The project involves setting up a unit in an are of 10 acres of land to manufacture EHV cables with a capacity of 1,000 km per year at Urse near Finolex’s existing cable unit. The proposed unit will also manufacture jointing and termination accessories and provide turnkey solution for a complete installation. The Rs. 1,350 million project is to come up in three phases. As of December 2007, the company is in the process of acquiring land.
