National Buildings Construction Corporation , a leading infrastructure company is planning to diversify into power generation. The project involves setting up a a 1,000 MW power plant at Marwah near Korba district in Chhattisgarh in joint venture with Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board which will buy 90% of the power generated from the proposed plant and is soon likely to sign a power purchase agreement with NBCC. The remaining power will be traded through the national grid. The project is estimated to cost Rs 40,000 million. As of November 2007, the company has initiated the process for setting up the joint venture
