Utkal Power is setting up a 120 MW (2×60 MW) thermal power plant
Utkal Power is setting up a 120 MW (2×60 MW) thermal power plant at Choudwar in cuttack district of Orissa. The proposed power plant will be installed in the existing premises of Indian Charge Chrome Ltd, a sister concern of the company. About 40 acres of land would be required. Coal will be used as the fuel. The coal requirement is estimated as 1.01 million TPA to be obtained from Chendipada, Angul at a distance of about 100 km to be transported by rail. Closed circuit system of cooling with induced draft cooling tower will be provided. AFBC boiler will be used. Three stacks of height 50 m each with a flue gas velocity of 12 m/sec. As of July 2007, the project has been cleared by ministry of environment.
