Tata Metaliks plans DI Plant in WB
Tata Metaliks is planning to set up a greenfield plant in WB with Japanese Collaboration. The project involves setting up a ductile iron pipe manufacturing plant with an installed capacity of 1.1 lakh tpa at Kharagpur in JV with Kubota Corporation and Metal One Corporation, Japan. A new company in the style of Tata Metaliks Kubota Pipes Ltd has been floated in which, Tata Metaliks will hold 51% equity while Kubota Corp and Metal One Corp will hold 44% and 5% respectively.Besides equity participation, Kubota Corporation will offer modern technology in ductile iron pipe manufacturing and provide guidance pertaining to best operational practices. The project is estimated to cost Rs.1,500 million. The new plant is expected to go onstream in early 2009.
