Haldia Petro plans new petrochem unit

Haldia Petrochemicals is planning to set up a new unit in WB. The project involves setting up a unit to produce new petrochemical products and expand existing products. The existing complex consists of a naphtha cracker unit and associated plants that manufacture linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP) and chemicals. The project is estimated to cost Rs.60,000 million. As of April 2007, the project is still in the planning stage and the company is yet to get approval from Board.
