Bharat Electronics to set up Wind Energy Farm
Bharat Electronics is planning to diversify into Wind Energy generation. The project activity involves setting up of a 2.5 Mega Watt (MW) wind farm, comprising of five 0.5 MW wind turbines near Basavapatna village of Davanagere district, Karnataka state, India. The turbines are of three-blade horizontal-axis type with pitch regulation facility for optimizing adjustment of the blade angles in relation to the prevailing wind conditions. Power generated at 690 Volt (V) will be stepped-up to 66 kilo Volt (kV) for transmission and feeding to the grid sub-station located 17 km. away from the project site. BEL proposes to enter into an agreement with the state transmission utility, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) for wheeling the clean power from the project activity to BEL’s Bangalore complex. The project also t includes construction of a 66kV double-circuit line with Coyote conductorfor a distance of 17 km from the project site to the existing 220/66 kV sub-station located at Honnali. Terminal bays have been provided for each circuit lines at the ends.
